Word of God…Speak

Word of God speak
Would you pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That you’re in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In your holiness
Word of God speak

From the song “Word of God Speak” by Mercy Me

I’ve been chewing on Psalm 119 lately–especially from The Passion Translation. I’ve read through it slowly–very slowly–over a period of weeks. Frequently stopping along the way to selah–to stop–to ponder–to meditate–on the treasures and truths revealed in each stanza. And then when I finally finished the whole Psalm–I went right back to the beginning and started again.

Sometimes that’s what you need to do. Sometimes you need to press pause on the chaos of the world and take a moment to realign yourself with timeless truth. Sometimes you need to be still and remember He IS truth. Sometimes you need to be diligent to enter into the blissful rest of His promises.

So that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve been intentionally choosing to turn my eyes away from illusions to pursue that which is true. I’ve been asking Him to drench my soul with life as I walk in His path. I’ve been asking Him to purge the hurry and the worry from my soul as I feast on His faithfulness–on His unfailing love–and on the unchanging truth of His character and nature.

Because in a crazy mixed up world, the only truth we can really be SURE of…

Is Him.

**************

I quoted the chorus from Mercy Me’s song Word of God Speak because that song often runs through my head when I read Psalm 119. I hadn’t actually heard the song for a long time, so I looked it up and found this YouTube version. Be blessed with a few moments of sweet rest in His holiness!

    Amen! Divine recalibration!
The greatest weapon we have is peace. Nothing going on inside of us, or outside of us, can defeat His rest and peace prevailing over us!

    1. Amen, Mel. I totally agree. Through one of the most difficult seasons of my life (a very serious situation with one of my kids) that was almost the exact word the Lord spoke to me “Your weapon in this battle is peace.” I find I need to re-learn that one over and over again 🙂 Like you said, divine recalibration! Blessings!
