“Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” – Isaiah 30:15
Return to rest
And in rest
Only in rest
Will you be saved
Healed
And delivered
In the quiet
In quiet confidence
In quiet confident trust
You will find strength
New strength
Overcoming strength
Strength that overcomes weakness
Strength that overcomes weariness
Strength that never fails
In returning to rest
And in quiet confident trust
You will be saved
You will be strong
You will be whole
Because when you return to rest
When you lean into rest in quiet confident trust
You discover all that He is
And all that He is…
Is already yours
“So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall._ –Hebrews 4:11
Rest is a big deal. Not physical rest–although that is important too–but spiritual rest. Rest from striving. Rest from works. Rest from our ongoing desire to prove ourselves to God and to others. God wants us to prove Him. Rest is the cornerstone of trust. When we trust, we rest. We don’t worry. We don’t strive. We’re not anxious. That’s why He said to be diligent to enter His rest. We spend so much time trying to do so many things, but if our hearts aren’t at rest in Him, we’re missing it. We’re missing Him.
Rest doesn’t mean you kick back and drift through life, never doing another thing. Far from it! It just means you don’t strive. You work from rest. You war from rest. You live from rest. Most importantly, you love from rest–from a place of security, confidence, and trust.
If you’ve left His rest behind (and we all do at times) it’s not hard to find again. He made it easy–just return. Return and run back into His open arms. Run back into His love. Run back to the place where He is your confidence; where He is your strength.
Because He is our resting place.
“Surrender your anxiety. Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God.” -Psalm 46:10 tPt
No matter how dark your circumstances may be…
No matter how anxious or confused or weary or hopeless you may feel…
You can still return.
You can return to rest.
“When we trust, we rest. We don’t worry. We don’t strive. We’re not anxious. That’s why He said to be diligent to enter His rest. ”
Amen and amen! Rest starts with putting God in the center instead of us. It’s eating from the Tree of Life (Jesus) instead of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Religion). We trust God’s provision to meet our needs and share his life endlessly. It doesn’t get any better than that! 🙂
And, as you said, when we lose our way and forget these things, we can return to rest. His mercies are new every morning. Ahhh…good word, Cindy!

“We trust God’s provision to meet our needs and share his life endlessly. It doesn’t get any better than that!” Yep, that really is it!! So very simple 🙂 And you are right, it doesn’t get any better…except when we “get it” better! Blessings to you, Mel. Hope you enjoyed your birthday!!

Aah yes, REST that’s what I’m experiencing after a long trial of tested faith. How faithful our God is, and the rest for body soul and spirit He gives is beyond our comprehension. Thank you for sharing Cindy.
