Arise and Shine

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.Fo behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.”  – Isaiah 60:1-2 NKJV

Arise: Shake off your slumber. Stand firm. Advance.

Shine: Let what burns within you be released around you.

For your light has come: HIS light has come. THE Light has come. The true Light. The Light that never fades or dims. This Light is in you.

And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you: His glory cannot be withheld. His goodness cannot be contained. It WILL burst forth in every circumstance.

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you:  It feels dark. In fact, it is dark. But that darkness is not His absence. He is near. He is working. You are hidden under the shadow of His wings.

And His glory will be seen upon you: Upon you. Yes you. The one who feels weak but still believes. The one who fails but still perseveres. The one who falls but gets back up. The one who has been hidden but found treasure in the darkness. The one who has endured great pain and perplexity but chosen trust.

The one who has leaned in and not away.

THIS is your moment, beloved.

In the waiting, your weakness has become deep, abiding strength. In the heartbreak, your sacrifice of praise has become a sweet, joyful aroma before the throne of grace. Your roots have been deepened, and your capacity has been enlarged.

Your faith has been tested and come forth as gold.

It doesn’t have to feel that way—it just IS that way. Your own assessment of your level of spiritual maturity and growth is wholly irrelevant to the equation. This isn’t about your work—it is about His. And He is quite pleased with His work in you. So very, very pleased.

Arise and shine, beloved—your light HAS come.

I hear Him say: …In the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, Let me see your face…

  1. Amen, Cindy! I’ve been hearing the same message. Praise be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. Christ in us, our hope of glory. We are arising and letting our light shine. We are a city set on a hill whose light that cannot be extinguished. Yea, darkness and light are alike to Him. Thank you so much for sharing! God’s blessings on you!

  2. Amen! We’re definitely tracking together. I used the same passage today. 🙂 Isaiah 60:1-3 has been a theme passage for us for a couple of year now. Especially timely now. Yes! We are called to let Jesus light shine through us in dark places!
