Ever felt like the little engine who could? Slowly, painfully, trekking up a steep hill. Not sure if you’ll make it. Not sure if you know—or sometimes even care—what’s on the other side. You just know to keep putting one foot in front of the other. You just know to persevere.  To keep believing…I think I can, I think I can….that the road is going somewhere and getting there is possible.

A lot of us have been like that little engine for a long time. The road has been difficult. The obstacles have been many. But along the way, you developed perseverance. You developed resilience.

You developed faith.

You believed you could…and you did.

We are in the midst of Rosh Hashanah—the biblical feast of trumpets and Jewish new year. The Hebrew year is 5780. Not just a new year but, fittingly, a new decade. We are also coming up on the Gregorian year 2020. Also a new decade and, as the numbers suggest, a significant one.

I always love hearing what the prophetic folks have to say about Rosh Hashanah each year, but I also don’t pay much attention until I know what He is personally saying to me. As I prayed this year, the picture I kept seeing was that the little engine who could…did.  That little engine FINALLY made it to the top of that dang hill. When you’re on the climb, you can only see the step in front of you. But from the top, new vistas are opened and a new much broader and clearer vision emerges.

But I didn’t just see the little engine at the top of the mountain. In an instant, I saw it take off and zip down the other side so fast it made my head spin. If that is a true picture of what is ahead, then change is coming—quickly.

With that in mind, here is a bit more of what He has stirred in my heart for the coming year. If you’ve been on that climb for a looong time, they might resonate with you too:

• Things are about to move very quickly. It may seem terrifying at times, but if you allow yourself to enjoy ride, it will be also be an exhilarating adventure.
• Things you saw in the spirit years, maybe even decades ago, will begin (some have already begun) to manifest in the natural.
• Many who have been prepared, hidden on the back side of the mountain, are coming into the light. Many of these are the ones who have been overlooked by the Church for a long time because their gifts happen to come in nontraditional packages. But the time is right and the time has come. There IS a time for every purpose under heaven.
• Deal with your stuff quickly. Things that could be hidden on the back side of the mountain are painfully obvious in the light of a new day. There is NEVER any condemnation, but there IS grace for walking in a deeper realm of holiness. We need to avail ourselves of that grace.
• Authority and authenticity are essentially interdependent. You have great power and authority as a child of God, as well as great weakness in your “still-in-process” humanity. His power will be made perfect IN your weakness—not in trying to pretend it doesn’t exist.
• It is a time of harvest—IMMINENT harvest. God is never mocked You didn’t give up. You didn’t give in. You’re still standing. And you WILL reap what you’ve sown.

This is all very personal to me as I have finally  begun to transition into my “new” after a VERY long climb up that mountain. And let me tell you—the train indeed has left the station! Once that little engine reaches its tipping point and momentum starts to take over, it could be a wild ride.

Do I have any idea what all that means? No, not really. Even the things I do see—I see in part. Things always unfold in His way and in His timing. I’m good with that. But what I do know is this…

A lot of little engines that could…did. And when the collective strength and momentum they’ve built on the climb hits the atmosphere, it will change the landscape—in a very big way.
