Monday Morning Musings: New Things

mmm2See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  —Isaiah 43:19

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been hearing about new things for a long time now. Lately, though, it’s different. Lately I’m not just “hearing” about new things … I perceive them. Which is great because often we perceive before we see. We know something is changing … we’re just not sure exactly what. Because new things are … well … new.

I had written something completely different to post today. I’ll leave that for another time. Instead, I sensed the Lord leading me to this topic. The only problem is I didn’t really know where He wanted me to go with it.

But that, I think, is the message.

It’s okay to not know exactly where we’re going–as long as we know who we’re following.

Because the One we’re following is always good.

I would rather fumble and bumble my way through a new thing, than write something that’s all spiffed up, but lacking God’s presence.  So instead of trying to force a bunch of pretty words into place, I’m simply going to share what I feel Him highlighting from His word. And that is this:

The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of flowers whispers, ‘There is change in the air. ‘Arise my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place.’ For now is the time to arise and come away with me.” —Song of Songs 2:11-13 The Passion Translation

I certainly don’t have everything God is doing figured out, but one thing I am pretty darn sure of is this …

It is time to arise and shine, because God is doing a new thing.

  1. A word that’s right on point! A timely message of confirmation. Thank you so much for following the Holy Spirit leading this New Day. Your message adds clarity to what He’s speaking to me and how He’s leading. It is truly a way of trusting Him and not relying on our own understanding. He is truly The Way, The Truth and The Life. I pray that we all will awake and arise and follow the leading of His Spirit? Thanks again, for surely He is doing a new thing. Even this morning as I was reading and meditating I misplaced my eyeglass case and thought to myself why am I forgetting what I’m doing? Then I heard a still voice speak and said ‘old things are passing away, behold all things are being made new.’ My mind went to the words of Paul ‘forgetting the things in the past and pressing forward to the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.’ It is truly a New Day every Day!!! Blessings to you!!!

    1. Amen! So good … ALL things are being made new. I’ve had a couple times where I kept losing (or breaking) glasses, and felt like He was telling me it was time for new lenses 🙂 He is giving us new “vision” for a new season! Blessings to you as well!!

  2. Amen, Definitely a “NOW” word that perfectly describes what’s been going on with me and many others I know! What you said here describes what our attitude should be perfectly…
“It’s okay to not know exactly where we’re going–as long as we know who we’re following.
Because the One we’re following is always good.”

We definitely haven’t been this way before! Something completely new and off our maps. God is turning our world upside-down, from the inside out! 🙂

Btw, I was seeing 444 everywhere for several months last year and early this year. I’ve actually been woken up by the Lord at exactly 4:44! I was half-asleep one night and the Lord told me to look at the clock. I was thinking, yeah right, it’s probably 4:44. I finally opened my eyes and it was! Crazy stuff like this is happening. I found out that the number 4 speaks of creation. God is creating something new in us!
    Blessings.

    1. “God is turning our world upside-down from the inside out” – LOVE it! That describes it exactly. And I’ve been seeing 4:44 too (also at times in the middle of the night) – even more often than the 2’s. Creating something new in us is a great word! Also check out Ezek. 44:4 “…I looked and saw the glory of the LORD filling the temple of the LORD, and I fell facedown” Time for these “temples” to overflow with glory! Blessings to you Mel 🙂

  3. Yup I perceive it too! It’s amazing because it’s new for my children too and for many kids who have started back to school, new teachers, new grade, new season. More importantly He is doing a new thing in this woman. I have you had a chance to see The War Room, I was curious on your thoughts about it. Love and hugs to you!

    1. Lots of new all the way around! So funny you asked about War Room – I did see it. I was actually thinking of writing something about it so maybe that is my hint to follow through on it. I guess you’ll have to stay tuned 😊 xoxo

  4. Cindy, this is so right on. I’m one of those who have been hearing about the “new thing” for sometime now. Even my blog site is in the process of “something new”….but I don’t know what it’s supposed to look like. Therefore, I am only posting the words I know that I know He is giving me. It’s a very uncomfortable place to be, because I can’t see what’s ahead. I am so grateful that He sees. He knows. He’s leading me to new places He has purposed. Thanks for putting into words what I am experiencing! I do have great expectations that the Lord is doing something that we are discerning. The reading from Soloman is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Yes Lord, let the rains come.

    1. Amen Glenda. It really is a new season. So exciting and yet uncomfortable at the same time. And I so agree with you – I’m grateful He sees what we can’t and knows what it isn’t time for us to know yet! Such security in that 😊 Hugs to you!
