No, that’s not a typo. I didn’t mean to say choose your battles.
Choose your battle.
Choose your battle carefully.
Choose your battle wisely.
Because the battle isn’t …
- Against ungodly governments or legislation
- Against corrupt leaders and officials
- Or even against bullies, murderers, and terrorists
The battle isn’t …
- Against that person with whom you disagree
- Against that person who has treated you unkindly or unfairly
- Or even against that person who hates your guts
The battle isn’t …
- Against your own weaknesses
- Against your own fears and failures
- Or even against your own “flesh”
“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” -Eph 6:12
Make no mistake–there is a battle. But the battle is NOT against people. The battle is not against yourself. It’s not against that person whose lifestyle challenges your core values. It’s not against the person who has wronged you. It’s not against our government or against opposing governments. It’s not even against those who commit the most heinous of crimes and sins.
Because we don’t battle against flesh and blood.
“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” –2 Cor.10:3-5 (Emp.mine)
Jesus said to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us (Matt. 5:44). That’s how we “fight”. We don’t follow the way of human reasoning. We follow Him. And in Him …
We are “strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
We “put on the whole armor of God, that (we) may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
We rejoice in the victory of the God of Angel Armies who “disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”
When we lay hold of the victory and authority that are ours in Christ, we can do some serious damage to the kingdom of darkness by simply agreeing with His word, His truth, His character, His heart, and His life …
Abiding in us.
Yes, there is a battle. Lines have been drawn. We have a very real choice. Choose this day whom you will serve. If your desire is for His kingdom to come and His will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven, then maybe … just maybe …
It’s time to choose the right battle.
Good reminder! Always at the core, isn’t he? And how opportunistic, also.

Yes, amen! We don’t have any human enemies. That’s a great reminder, Cindy. And we also fight FROM victory not for victory because Victory lives in us! I love how the Amplified Bible renders Col.2:10:.”And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. So, it’s not even a fair fight! 🙂 Blessings.

Ha ha, yep hard to call it a fair fight when you’re dealing with an already defeated foe! LOVE that verse in the Amplified – “… in Him, made full and having come to fullness” Lol – I think that covers it! Now, if we could only operate from that reality all the time ….but I guess that is the journey. 🙂 Blessings to you, Mel.

Amen. We dare not face the day without putting our armor on and standing firm with Jesus in prayer. He’s got the victory In the battle against principalities and powers and the schemes of the evil one. Praise God He did not leave us with spiritual weapons. Thanks for sharing Cindy!
