It’s A Brand New Day

It’s a brand new day.

It’s a brand new day and the first day of a brand new week.

What if it’s not only a brand new day and week …

But also the first day of a brand new season?

The first day of a brand new age?

The first day of a whole new revelation of the Kingdom?

What if today is the first day of a whole new revelation of Him?

What if this Resurrection Sunday is like no Resurrection Sunday since the day He walked out of that tomb?

What if there is a before and after that is stunning beyond belief?

What if all of this is true, yet it looks and feels nothing like we expect it might?

His plans really are nothing  like our plans…

They are far superior.

It doesn’t take much prophetic revelation—or even much imagination—to realize this Easter IS different. The churches are empty for the first time in known history.  But as others have pointed out—so is the tomb.

We’ve been on sort of a global church time-out. Whether we realize it or not, we’ve needed it. We’ve needed the reset. We’ve needed the rest. We’ve needed the perspective shift. We’ve needed the preparation.

No, we don’t need this dang virus. And no, God didn’t cause it.

But I sure do see Him using it.

It didn’t catch Him off guard. It didn’t disrupt His plans. It certainly didn’t throw heaven into chaos.

In fact, the Lord in heaven laughs at the forces of evil that plot and scheme on the earth (see Psalm 2). On Friday, hell thought it had won. On Sunday, EVERYTHING changed.

The truth is, things changed long before that miraculous Sunday morning. God’s plan was sealed in the garden and carried out on the cross, but a whole lot of life happened in between. A profound shift happened when Jesus came.  He was on the earth for years upending our ideas of what God was like—long before many grasped who He was and what He was doing. The Resurrection was the evidence and unveiling of what God planned all along. It was a tangible cornerstone we could hold onto through the ages.

What if things have shifted in a way that is just as profound?

Even though I just wrote those words, I confess to having little revelation of what they actually mean or how things will be “unveiled.” Someone could argue another side and I’d be totally fine with that—maybe I would even agree. I’ve found myself doing that a lot lately—saying words, and sometimes writing them—that don’t come from a place of natural understanding. Often I can’t defend them or explain what I mean because I simply don’t know …

But they sure do resonate in my spirit.

Here is something I do know, something I think about a lot: When Jesus came the first time, all the signs were there. He fulfilled every prophecy perfectly.  Yet almost EVERYONE missed Him.

Because they were expecting Him—and the circumstances surrounding His earthly ministry—to look SO different.

That sort of sums up how I feel. Something has shifted in a profound way. I know it in my knower. Yet I can’t explain it, and frankly, I don’t think anyone else can either even though I’ve heard lots of folks try. I have no idea what things will look like going forward. I don’t know how long it will take before we begin to truly grasp what God is doing. But I do know this:

My heart is open before Him. My eyes are fixed on Him. My life is His to pour out as He pleases.

And His life, His resurrected life, is mine—and yours—forever.

Arise and shine, beloved—it IS a brand new day.

  2. Amen! It is a brand new day! I agree with your declarations, Cindy. Even though we don’t know specifically how God is doing it, we sense that He IS doing something new. During this unique time in history, people are finding Jesus in a way they never imagined possible. He is rising in our hearts anew! The Church is rising up for a new season. Praise God. He is doing this!

Many blessings on this RESURRECTION day!
