Fix Your Eyes

“We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection.” -Hebrews 11:2 TPT

Yesterday, I heard the Lord whisper to my heart:  Fix your eyes on Me. That has been such a key for me in staying focused in ALL types of circumstances—especially these last few weeks. When my eyes are fixed on Jesus, I’m captured by the goodness and grace of the eternal King and His Kingdom—and not on the hardships of the moment.

When I started contemplating this truth, I remembered this quick little poem I wrote in my journal a few years back:

Oh, the beauty of Your face
Oh, the glory of Your gaze
Oh, the fire of Your love
Oh, the mercy of Your touch

Lost in the wonders of grace
Secure for all of my days
What else could I possibly do?
But fix my eyes on You

Sometimes there aren’t a lot of practical steps we can take to solve a problem, but we can ALWAYS choose to look up.

“Christ’s resurrection from the dead is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority! Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm. Your crucifixion with Christ has severed the tie to this life, and now your true life is hidden away in God as you live within the Anointed One. And every time Christ himself is seen for who he really is, who you really are will also be revealed, for you are now one with him in his glory!” -Colossians 3:1-4 TPT

Look up. Lock eyes. Let Truth wash over you. Come alive again in His love.

We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” -2 Chronicles 20:12

Jesus, thank You for eternal truth. We fix our eyes on You—on the joy set before us—and not on these “temporary light afflictions.” You are the our “one thing”—the One are hearts yearn for above all. As we gaze upon Your beauty and feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm, the things of earth WILL grow strangely dim! ~Amen
