The Stand

Eyes fixed
Heart aligned
Watching
Waiting
Ready to respond at the sound of Your voice
Strong and courageous
Not because I feel no fear
But because You’ve made me brave
You know my heart, Lord
You know that I want to do something
Anything
To move the battle lines
To bring the breakthrough
But this time
That isn’t my role
It’s not my name on the line
It’s Yours
And because it’s Yours
The battle is also Yours
So I stand at attention
Many years of learning to lean—
Despite so many losses
Many years of learning to trust—
Despite so much confusion
Many years of learning to rejoice and sing—
Even in the wilderness
Have brought me to this place
To this moment in time
To this valley of decision
Do I believe what I say I believe?
Are You really Who You say You are?
But after the passage of all that time…
Time spent walking hand-in-hand with You
Growing increasingly confident
In Your nature
And Your ways
Growing increasingly secure
In the depths of your love…
Is there really a choice?
You long ago captured my heart, Jesus
I don’t know how to say anything but “yes” to You
Regardless of the cost
Regardless of where it leads
Regardless of what anyone else does or does not understand
So here I am
Eyes fixed
Heart aligned
Watching and waiting
Hoping and believing
Finally knowing
In the core of my being
This is NOT the past
Past disappointments have no grip on me
This is not then
This is now
I was born for such a time as this
And THIS …
Is my stand

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you…”
